The AI Wave in India: Why Everyone’s Talking About It
Welcome to “Through My Eyes” — a space where I reflect on thoughts, ideas, and everything in between. Sometimes personal, sometimes deep, sometimes just curious. Hope you enjoy the journey as much as I do!
Hey there! I'm Mahesh, a curious mind from India diving deep into the world of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
I'm not just here to write about code or formulas — I'm here to share how I see AI through my eyes. As a student passionate about tech, I love connecting the dots, asking “why,” and discovering the human side of machines. This blog is my little space to share what I learn, what I wonder, and how I grow on this journey. So whether you’re just starting out or already deep in the AI ocean — you’re welcome here. Let’s explore together.
India — a land known for its massive youth population and vibrant uniqueness. 🇮🇳
Over the past few years, I’ve noticed something interesting: there’s been a sudden boom in AI-related courses being introduced across colleges. And honestly, it had me wondering...
Why now?
AI isn’t something brand new — it’s been around for decades. So what’s behind this sudden rush? Why are colleges and students diving into it like it’s the next big thing?
Before we dive deeper, let’s clear one thing up — what even is AI?
Honestly, it’s not that complicated. In simple terms, Artificial Intelligence is when machines are trained to think and behave like humans — without needing human help every time.
So yeah, I got curious. I started reading up — articles, blogs, whatever I could find. And being an AI student myself, I went around asking my peers:
“Why are you into AI?”
Wanna know the most common reply I got?
"Bro, we’ll get easy placements and the money is crazy!" 💸
That’s when my brain really started buzzing...
So wait, is the majority of our youth just chasing money? Where’s the curiosity? Where’s the hunger to explore something revolutionary?
And then it hit me — maybe it's not just the students.
Even universities are capitalizing on the AI hype by launching courses like AI & DS, AI & ML, and so on. Not necessarily to build a smarter generation… but to ride the wave and, well, earn from the hype.
So yeah, courses are introduced… but then what?
There’s no real structure behind them. Even if universities do provide some kind of framework, the sad truth is — most students have zero interest in actually learning or exploring. 🧠❌
And it’s not entirely their fault. The system never really encouraged curiosity — just marks, ranks, and placements.
In India, this lack of direction created a weird loop in the IT industry.
Companies aren’t looking for passionate learners anymore — they’re looking for cheap labour.
And guess what? Even the ones who do have solid skills struggle to break out of this trap. It’s like a never-ending cycle.
The most heartbreaking part?
Students who once picked AI (or any cool specialization in CS) with so much excitement...
Now they’re giving up.
Their mindset has shifted to:
“Even if I’m skilled, I’ll probably end up with a low-paying job anyway.”
And that’s where we’re stuck — a generation full of talent, but slowly losing hope.
But hey, I’m not just here to rant. I genuinely believe if we start exploring the roots of what we’re learning, things will begin to make more sense. That’s why in my next blog, I’m diving into a concept that literally acts as the first handshake between you and any AI model. 🤯
It’s something super simple, yet it powers almost every intelligent system you’ve ever seen.
Curious?
Just wait — this one’s going to change the way you see machines understanding us humans. Stay tuned, it's gonna be exciting. 😉
